Mega Buddha post!

Yesterday I saw the worlds largest jade Buddha in existance. Its touring and its in town at the homestead Tibetan Buddhist temple.

It was honestly so BEAUTIFUL.

Jenny Bird and Victor took there shoes off and went for a closer look. (no shoes allowed on the stage).

Note the real life white dove infront of it..that wouldnt move. pretty epic. (this is my favorite shot of it ^).

If it comes by you PLEASE GO CHECK IT OUT! its free and amazing and inspiring and breathtaking.

We walked around the temple for alittle while...

They had some beautiful and colorful flowers.

Inside was a kind of shrine with a gold Buddha (thats permanently there, not on tour).

These are some things also inside that room ^

These monks were making sand art with these funnels that only let out afew grains at a time...after they finish they destroy it to show the lack of attachment..PRETTY INTENSE!

All and all it was a really amazing place and I want to go back and have a picnic or something there...even though its about a half an hour away..it would be nice.

This is my grandpas adopted cat, His name is Tommy, I called him Thomas (pronounced toe-mas). He names all his cats tommy becuase of the whole tom cat thing.

My grandpa, I love this man.

It was so good to see him, its been several years.

Up here trees dont grow in straight lines.

This guy sat across from me, he seemed nice. He didnt speak english though so I couldnt really tell. the guy next to him (not in the shot) talked to me about old hardcore and punk so it was awesome.

2 Hours in and I look so worn.

Ok...so the train hit some wild turkeys (the day before thanksgiving) and it stoped...like the bower was knocked out for about 45 minutes, no air no nothing.

Five hours in.

Seven.

Nine hours in and i look so alive...I dont know how it happened but it makes me feel like ben button.

Art Whino at Art Basel.

Art whino came to town from DC to the MIA for art Basel this week. they came to show off some of the most amazing artists from around the country/world! Here are some of them doing some live painting at Urbinte bestro.

It was really awesome to see.

This is Rob Fogle, Really cool and nice dude. Great artist too, I like how his painting turned out alot.
I met up with him at the gallery the next day and he was saying he remembers me or someone like me from somewhere. We started think to it may have been a doppelganger.

Justin Lovato=Line work Genius.

This artist used the same colors as the miami sky in his painting, Just look for yourself. I tried my best to catch it. I really like it.

There were people coming in and looking around, DROPPING THEIR JAWS AT THE AWESOMENESS.

Adam Russell was also super nice and came right up to me the next day at the gallery and introduced himself and didnt seem to mind my very sweaty hands.

Everyone was working super hard on their pieces and it showed!

This was one of the sickest things out there. He went by Gaia I think and he was spraying it on the wall across from the bistro. I went over and introduced my self and told him how sick it was coming out. He was really cool and humble about it too.

this is another favorite, the artist (Bradnon philipson) later took a sip of silver paint-water and spit it onto the canvas.

I love this painting! like Its one of my favorits that was done that day but the artist (Micheal Owen) finished and left before I got there so i never got to meet them and tell them that i liked it, unfortunatly. Its still great work though.

This woman is an amazing painter, I got to talk to her for a bit. Her name is Sylvia Ortiz and her painting came out amazing.

I know how to do this, But personally I dont know if i have the patiance to do it...

As soon as I got there I walked over to James Walker, an amazing artist and a friend of mine who I havent seen in YEARS! it was good to catch up and see him paint in person.

James' Painting was insane! it was SO good. As I was leaving to go home I saw him still working on it which just shows the amount of dedication he has for his art.

...After hanging out for acoupl of hours photographing all the amazing artist I headed over to Charcoal studios where the art whine gallery was represnting.

This wall by Justin Lovato was AWESOME like his line work is sick. And hes really nice and put up with my photographing him and constant compliments and lurking around him.

This is James Walkers wall and it KICKED SOME SERIOUS ASS! My favorite wall.
p.s. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be doing photography I wouldn't have a blog I wouldn't even be doing Pop art portraits.

hey all, yesterday I found out that one of my photos thats featured in the Miambiance magazine has won a certificate of merit from Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Which is awesome cause I rarely get acknowledged for my photos. The cover I drew also won something.

This week Miami dade had a visiting artist named Lothar Osterburg and he specializes in a process called photogravure (but does alot more) which is really an awesome thing. He was teaching kids how to do it and I got afew shots of him while doing so.

He reminded me of Dana Carvey...REALLY.

I drew this picture of him and he seemed to like it. I included this train scene from a picture that he told us about. It was a really insane photo.

He seemed to enjoy the drawing, and he took a picture of it with his phone.

Lothar crushes mineral spirits cans with ease.

These cans wont be harming anyone EVER AGAIN!

Lothar was honestly one of the more amazing artists ive had the pleasure of meeting.

Today my brother found a dog and saved it from traffic. We brought it home and he named her bruno.

We walked Bruno around our neighborhood for hours hanging fliers and knocking on doors to see if anyone knew the owner. apparently people thought we were up to no good (which couldnt have been farther from the truth) so they called the cops on us.
Three cop cars came and questioned me and my brother.

Friends, if I was going to break the law, I wouldn't go walking door to door knocking on homes (which some had cop cars parked in front) in 90 degree weather.

That out of the way, I dont know what were going to do. Im not sure we can keep her.

Im hopeful that its owner calls.

Hey everyone...Ive got Two new pop pieces for you.
The first one took me DAYS, Its the lovely Danie, The end result was well worth it, I learned that i can do hats well and wood grain doesnt need to be vectored.

The second one is a self portrait, it only took about two hours. No clothes and no wood grain, so I was set.

ok ive painted the body in several coats of acrylic with a custom color, how is it custom you ask...cause im partly color blind and each purple was different, not really easy to make them match..
anyway, all that remains is the head area and putting nails.

oh yeah...sharpie smudges if its not allowed to set...hence the top of the head.

Oh my god dudes, I just came from the student show at my school and something happened that has never happened..I won...My stomach started to really hurt from me being so overwhelmed and i was shaking so much when i accepted my award and i shock so many peoples hands with my sweat soaked hand...It was crazy, absolutely crazy, It was very overwhelming and surreal..I cant explain it.

heres the piece that won.

I had three other pieces in the show, Ill post them as soon as i get better pictures of them.

on another note heres a chalk drawing i did earlier today.

someone i just met bit there thumb at me while i was walking to the chalk area and i found it funny so i drew someone bitting there thumb and put "I bite my thumb at thi"

Hello all, so ive been kinda busy (not to much but kinda) working on something for my friend, it was a cover design for a magazine and the theme was humans and energy and nature and stuff like that so i came up with this, I like it.

the first one had a rose but not to many people liked the rose haha, yeah...

I like it but than again i dont really have a problem with roses.
